See what’s the latest in the open concept design.
In the recent years, the open concept became a very popular trend in a modern design. This type of plan features large shared space serving as multiple functions, kitchen/dining or kitchen/living rooms. Today we are concentrating on innovative cooking/dining solutions. Here are some examples of the latest modern kitchen design.
Open concept kitchen in glossy lacquer and wood veneer. Extended island with table seating.
There are few important rules you need to consider when incorporating a table, a counter or a bar seats in the kitchen. The shape and the size of available space will dictate the type of the seating possible. Is it a formal dining table with chairs around, an extended island, peninsular seating or a combination of any?
Dining table is great in abundance of the space. However, in constricted area you might want to opt for kitchen island extension and even island seating.
Decide on the number of people you want/need to seat comfortably. Unspoken rule is about 2 feet per person.
When adding any type of seating, consider “traffic flow”. Is it easy to get to the seat without disturbing other guest? Is it enough room to pass through when seats are occupied? Are you infringing on the “cooking” space?
When it comes to choosing dining furniture, find some unifying elements that will complete your vision. It could be style, color, texture or even repeating shapes that will group your dining room with the kitchen. Here some examples of such pairings.
