5 Questions to Ask Before Your Kitchen Renovation (And How We Answer Them)

A kitchen renovation is a big, wonderful, slightly nervous adventure. You are making decisions that will affect how your family gathers, how you cook, and how your home feels for years to come. It is completely normal to have questions.
At European Kitchen Center, we have heard just about every question a homeowner can ask. And we love answering them. So let us go through five of the most common ones, with warm, honest answers based on how we actually work with clients across New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey.
1. How long will I be without a kitchen? And how long does the whole project take?
This is almost always the first question, and it is a fair one. The timeline depends on the size and complexity of your project. On average, luxury kitchen projects typically take several months from design approval to installation. That includes manufacturing time and shipping from Italy. We cannot magically make it faster, but we can promise to communicate clearly at every stage. We will give you a realistic timeline upfront and stick to it as closely as possible. Many of our clients tell us that the wait was absolutely worth it when they finally saw their finished kitchen.
2. Can I really get a custom kitchen without having a custom built home?
Yes, absolutely. Italian kitchen systems such as Euromobil, Composit, and TheCut Kitchen are designed with modular components. This enables our designers to create fully customized kitchens tailored to your space, layout, and lifestyle. Whether you live in a prewar apartment on the Upper West Side, a brownstone in Cobble Hill, or a new modern home in the suburbs, we can design a kitchen that fits perfectly. Custom does not mean you need a custom house. It just means we listen carefully and design thoughtfully.
3. What if I already have an architect or interior designer? Do you still work with me?
We love working with architects and interior designers. In fact, we frequently collaborate with design professionals to create custom European kitchens for residential projects. We see ourselves as part of your team. If you already have a designer, we will coordinate closely with them. If you do not have one, our in house design team can guide you through layout planning, cabinetry and material selection, appliance sourcing, and coordination with installation professionals. Either way, you are never alone in the process.
4. What makes European kitchens different from traditional American kitchens?
This is one of our favorite questions because the answer is in the details. European kitchens are known for modern, functional design. They offer a multitude of styles, including minimal, organic modern, Japandi comfort, transitional, and bespoke. You get a large selection of finishes, handleless cabinetry, high quality materials, smart storage solutions, and seamless appliance integration. The result is a kitchen that is not only beautiful but also incredibly efficient. Everything has a place. Everything works smoothly. And everything is designed to make your daily life feel a little easier and a lot more elegant.
5. Can I visit the showroom before I decide anything?
Please do. Visiting the European Kitchen Center Brooklyn showroom allows you to experience the quality, materials, and design of Italian kitchens from TheCut Kitchen, Euromobil, and Composit in person. Our design team can discuss your project, answer your specific questions, and help you explore customization options with no pressure. You can open cabinets, feel the difference in the hinges, and stand in a full scale kitchen display. It is a completely different experience from looking at photos online.
We serve homeowners throughout Brooklyn, New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey. Clients often travel to our Brooklyn showroom to begin the kitchen design process, and we would love to welcome you.
